The intent of latches and locks are to create a safe condition for the user during equipment operation. The purpose of a lock is to prevent ingress, access to, or exit from, the machine during operation. A latch consists of a pivoting bar or hook that locks into a notch and is held in place to keep the door closed during machine operation. All of Ark-les’ latches and locks are designed to meet specific customer parameters while providing a safe environment. Our latches and locks are found in a wide range of applications including washing machines, dishwashers, and ovens. Our latches and locks can be integrated with a variety of activation technologies including motors, relays, and solenoids. All latches and locks are UL listed.

Front-Loading Lid Lock
Front loading washers are becoming very popular in the United States. Front-loaders have an unique requirement over the top-loaders, that is, the front door must remain sealed during operation. Ark-Les has designed several patent-pending mechanisms to provide the door closure force and travel necessary to keep water sealed inside the machine. The prime mover of the lock is either a motor or solenoid. Interlocks can be added to ensure safety during high-speed spin or in the case of power outages.
