Customer Request

  • Develop a clothes hanging rod to support standard hangers and create a side-to-side oscillation to remove wrinkles in garments
  • Rod length, # of hangers, amplitude and frequency of oscillation, target costs were all specified by the customer

Solution

  • A resiliently suspended assembly supported to allow movement in only one axis at a tuned natural frequency
  • Excitation at the natural frequency is provided by an integral reciprocating mass
